Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– While a tweet without a link to any sort of proper announcement isn’t really “news,” Geoff Johns took to Twitter today to promote “Justice League” #32 and announced that the book is heading towards an event called “The Darkseid War,” which sounds an awful lot like the first arc of “Justice League.” This also could see to be the official name of the Earth Zero Vs. Earth Two war we’ve been teased as part of “Futures End.”
– While it is not a property we cover often on Multiversity, Zenescope has had a long history with their “Grimm” series. One of those spinoff books, “The Library,” has been optioned by Mythology Entertainment.
– Skybound has announced a pretty great sounding Humble Bundle, featuring “The Walking Dead,” “Ghosted,” “Witch Doctor,” and more.
– Complex argues that the Golden Age of Comics was, perhaps, not in the 30s and 40s, but right now. It is pretty hard to argue with some of their arguments.
– Is the Venom movie on the rocks? Or will it simply be delayed until 2019? Director Alex Kurtzman seems on the brink of being announced as director of The Mummy re-boot, which puts the symbiotic spider-flick in jeopardy.
– There was a lot of buzz about a potential return for the Young Justice cartoon, but all of that has proven to be bunk. It is being released on DVD/Blu Ray and being repackaged into a weird, not-quite-full season and full season packages.
– And, finally, the AV Club’s Comics Week is plowing on, talking with our pal Ryan Browne about his influences (including some original art featuring said influences from Ryan), a roundtable discussion about diversity in comics, and a great piece from Ed Piskor about why he hates the song “Street Justice” by the Rake.
