Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– According to the Wrap, there are now four finalists for the role of Dr. Doom in the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot. Those four are Sam Riley (On the Road), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Toby Kebbell (RockNRolla) and Domnhall Gleeson (About Time). Supposedly Jack Huston (who is rumored for everything always but is also awesome) is the fifth guy, but it’s now down to those four. Of those, there’s only one answer: Toby Kebbell. I don’t know Riley or Redmayne, but no Weasley can ever also be Dr. Doom and Kebbell is just an epic badass. Yes, please.
Also, I want to note that putting that in a video is epic BS, and I hate that they made me watch that video on The Wrap to find out. I say no to you The Wrap. No.
– A new ongoing, titled “Savage Hulk”, will be launching from Marvel with it following the “Savage Wolverine” paradigm of rotating teams telling short story arcs that feature the character. The first will be written and illustrated by Alan Davis, with the latter being a cosmic story featuring Thanos and Annihilus written and illustrated by Jim Starlin. Interesting stuff, there, and Starlin has been getting a lot of love from Marvel lately, hasn’t he? Good for him.
– Boom! continues to develop their empire, being even more of a wheeler and dealer by creating a first-look deal with Cartoon Network for the purpose of publishing their comics. Obviously “Adventure Time” has been a huge success for both sides, so this deal only makes sense.
– Jason Aaron’s “The Other Side” collaborator Cameron Stewart will now be the artist on Aaron’s final issue of “Amazing X-Men”, instead of the previously solicited Ed McGuinness. That, my friends, is super cool news, even if I am writing this through tearful eyes that Aaron is off the X-Books going forward.
– Going to Emerald City Comicon? Gabriel Hardman’s taking commissions for it, and having seen a lot of his commission work, I highly recommend taking him up on it if you are.
