Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Terry McGinnis, the Batman from Batman Beyond, will in fact be the character appearing as Batman Beyond in the upcoming “New 52: Future’s End”.
– Issue #115 of The Walking Dead ended 2013 as the highest selling single issue of the year, and Marvel ended up taking the top spot for the overall market share with nearly 37% of unit share. Interesting note: 8 of the top 10 books were number ones, which seems like a lot. Saga dominated the trades list, as it had the top 6 and 7 of the top 10, led by Saga’s first volume.
– Dark Horse has something developing called “Project Black Sky”, and it has something to do with their superhero line. As part of that, they have an incredible deal right now where you can try out the Zero issue from all five titles from that line – Ghost, X, Captain Midnight, Brain Boy and The Occultist – for FREE digitally. I can confirm 100% that Ghost, Captain Midnight and Brain Boy are totally awesome, so you should get on that while the getting is good.
– According to a study at Robot 6, crowd-funded comics (including Kickstarter and IndieGoGo) would amount to 2% of the total amount of the direct market in 2013. It doesn’t seem like much, but that is actually pretty amazing and would mean that they would be the size of the 6th or 7th biggest publisher.
