The Rundown: It’s Tuesday, DC Hates You, but Fear Agent Loves You, and more

Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

– In their ongoing attempts to make me dislike them, DC went all out yesterday in sharing that a certain someone is D-Y-I-N-G. I am not going to talk about it, because I don’t like supporting a company spoiling their own product before it arrives (which would be akin to M. Night Shyamalan telling everyone that Bruce Willis was dead in The Sixth Sense before it came out), but if you want to learn more about it, the writer of the certain comic did a farewell to the book/character at DC’s The Source.

That said, I am now buying a DC comic. Thanks Justice League of America! You were worth a purchase!

– In other news, Delirium Studios created a fan-made trailer for an animated Fear Agent movie. The results are somewhere in the range of 65% awesome, 35% not so awesome. But it’s definitely worth a shot and is a nice effort, and anything that involves Fear Agent getting hype, I support. That book rules.

– This is going to blow your mind, but Chris Ware’s Building Stories and Allison Bechdel’s Are You My Mother? found themselves in the final five for the LA Times Book Prize awards for Best Graphic Novel. Robot 6 has more, but seriously, you should really check out Building Stories. It’s worth a shot if only for the audacity and inventiveness.

– Superhero Hype has the first look at the costume from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and, unsurprisingly, it looks a lot like Spider-Man’s costume. Color me shocked, but it’s looking good. Don’t get too excited though – the new movie doesn’t drop for another year and change.

– Speaking of Spidey, a University of Illinois scientist has created a suit that effectively gives the wearer Spidey Sense, or the ability to sense approaching objects from all around. In good form, he calls the new device “SpiderSense.” ComicsAlliance has the story.

– Finally, in the realm of not really connected to comics but I don’t care because this is my news post, Jennifer Lawrence – MYSTIQUE! – is amazing and she proves it yet again with these ani gifs that depict Jack Nicholson creeping on her. God she’s great.
