Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

– Bar none the best news of Wondercon? Jeff Smith is doing a FREE web comic! JEFF. SMITH. FREE. WEB COMIC! Called “Tuki Save the Humans,” it’s about the first person who leaves Africa…well, let’s the Bleeding Cool person say what it is.

“It will be about the first human to leave Africa. It takes place about 2 million years ago during the Ice Age and Africa has been turned into a desert. Everyone is trying to stop Tüki – the Animal spirits, other humans, and more.”

If I could buy that, which Smith says returns him to the humor and fantasy of Bone, I would. But it’s free so YAY.

– Also from Smith is an upcoming Artist’s Edition rendition of Bone: The Great Cow Race from IDW Publishing. For those that don’t know, these Artist’s Editions are spectacular, and is a great way to get to see as close as you can get to original art from people like Smith as many of us ever well get. My only question: why The Great Cow Race?

– Not Wondercon related, but how would you like a Punk Rock Jesus print from Sean Murphy colored by Dave Stewart? Is that something that might interest you? Well, that’s Murphy’s new con print, and you can check it out on Murphy’s Twitter.

– The Rocketeer and The Spirit will be teaming up in an upcoming book written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Paul Smith. Yes, that does sound amazing.

– How does a comic series based off the original Star Wars concepts from George Lucas sound? Not what we eventually saw, but the very, very original concept? Sounds pretty rad, right? Throw in some Mike Mayhew art, and you pretty much have me sold, as Dark Horse will be releasing this very thing in an eight issue mini in September.

– Finally, DC/Vertigo officially announced that Jeff Lemire’s upcoming Trillium, a 10-issue mini, will be arriving in August. Not only that, but Lemire revealed on his blog (along with the cover) that he’ll be fully painting this series. Yes. Please.
