Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email David at david@multiversitycomics.com. I’m just filling in for today.
“Justice League Dark is very active. I’m doing one more revision while we wait for the writer. It’s somebody big, [and] we’re patiently waiting for that writer. I think it’s worth it, I think it’s a guy we all admire. I’m doing my revisions on my sort of Bible, on my story for the film. I can tell you it’s the writing project I’ve enjoyed the most in English. Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth are in Spanish, but of all my writing and screenplays, this was so much fun because it was character. It was a pretty easy plot, but the character interaction, Swamp Thing with Deadman and Demon, it’s so joyful for me to write that. Constantine is such a great character, so dry. I think it could be a great movie. I don’t want to do many changes until the proper writer comes onboard.”
Personally, I think this could be amazing. Not holding my breath waiting for it, but excited nonetheless.
– Phil Noto and Brandon Graham had an, ahem, interesting exchange on Twitter yesterday, where Graham took issue with Noto doing work on the “Before Watchmen” series, and went about expressing that in an odd way. Switch to decaf, Brandon.
– Marvel has announced that on the Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray, there will be another exclusive short, this time focusing on Captain America: The First Avenger‘s Agent Carter, aka the lovely Hayley Atwell. I love that Marvel does these shorts but, really, Carter is not my first choice of a character I want to see more of. The Blu-Ray is due out in September.
– This year’s DC swag bag for San Diego Comic Con has a cape! How adorable!
– “The Sword” by the Luna Brothers is getting the feature film treatment from writer David Hayter. We’ve heard rumblings about this, but Variety’s announcement makes it seem much more likely.
– Finally, because you’ve all been good boys and girls, Disco Skeletor is back.
