– We still don’t know who will play Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel film, but now we know for sure who it won’t be: the long rumored Joaquin Phoenix. According to Deadline, talks between Phoenix and Marvel are dead and not likely to be resuscitated. This is by no means a surprise, as Phoenix isn’t really the comic book movie/franchise type of guy in anyone’s mind, possibly least likely his own. Still, Phoenix would have been great, so that’s sad, but I imagine they’ll get someone awesome. Like Benedict Cumberbatch.

– “Gotham” now has its Harvey Dent (aka future Two-Face) in Nicholas D’Agosto (“Masters of Sex”), and he’ll be recurring for this season with the option to become a full out regular next season. Of course he’ll become a regular. He’s freaking Harvey Dent.

– Ed Piskor revisits his early work and childhood home in a fantastic documentary short from Pittsburgh Magazine, and you should check it out. And read everything Piskor does. He’s an awesome guy who loves cartooning as much as anyone in the game today, and you can see it in his work.

– Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are awesome. Proof of that is how they’re pressing on DC to try and keep “Batman” at $3.99. Those guys are good people.

– This is really great: artist Cat Staggs and her partner, writer/actor Amanda Deibert, are having a baby, and Target put together a video of the couple talking about the hopes for their child. It’s a really fantastic video.

– The New York Times writes about how comic book conventions were born in New York, and it’s a cool little piece with some little factoids in there. Check it.
