Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– When it was officially announced that Jason Aaron’s Wolverine and the X-Men was coming to a close, I suggested that we’re lucky because this means we might get an omnibus collecting the run. Now, we know that’s the case, as Amazon has a listing up for it already. Awwwww yeah!
– Speaking of, Nick Bradshaw will no longer be part of the 40-page finale to Wolverine and the X-Men, as it will now be entirely drawn by Pepe Larraz. I love Larraz’s work, but no Bradshaw on the finale makes me a sad, sad boy.
– Hey look! Want to try out the All-New Marvel Now for free while wearing your pajamas in your own home? Download the sampler off ComiXology and be lazy with me, as print comics are so exhausting.
– Forbes breaks down what the advent of tablets in the marketplace means for comic readers, and while much of it is discussion about pretty widely known things in the industry, I have to say articles like this in larger outlets like Forbes can’t help but be good for the industry. Plus, it’s great seeing all of that information in one place, and the information about the percentage of the women in ComiXology’s reader survey was very enlightening as well.
– Looking for Christmas presents for the comic fan in your life? Jeff Lemire is selling a limited edition, signed and numbered print combining Essex County, Sweet Tooth and Underwater Welder into one piece at his site for $30, which is pretty rad. Meanwhile, one of our Breakout Artist picks – Ulises Farinas – is having a big ol’ sale at his site. Check it out!
– Telltale is releasing a Game of Thrones game, which is very good news indeed.
– End of the Year awards are starting to pile in, and yesterday Comics Alliance revealed their “General Zod Memorial Awards” because why not.
– Speaking of Comics Alliance, they have a 14-page preview of Darwyn Cooke’s next Parker book, titled “Slayground”. Cannot wait to read this.
– Dark Horse is set to publish the previously uncollected “Grip” from Gilbert Hernandez.
