Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– The cast for the Dr. Strange movie continues to fill out nicely, as Chiwetel Ejiofor joins as Baron Mordo. We are given the distinct impression that Ejiofor’s Mordo will not be as locked into the comic’s version as we might assume, even allowing for the change in race. I’m pretty happy with the overall casting so far, although I think a really adventurous take could be done using the same cast in different roles. Imagine as Tilda Swinton as Dr. Stephanie Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch as her disciple Clarence, Ejiofor as the Ancient One, Andy Serkis as Dormammu, and Charlize Theron as Mordo. (Yes, those last two actors haven’t been cast, but I was on a roll…). Tell me you wouldn’t be hyped as all hell to see that movie!
– Despite what you may have heard, exhibiting at comic conventions as a creator is NOT just like printing money. For every one creator making profit, there are probably five to ten others that are deep in the bad kind of red ink. Fortunately, astute blogger Derpygurl has posted a list of 25 things you’re probably doing at shows that are keeping you from making money. Kevin Powers has posted another list supplementing Derpygurl’s, and both lists are highly recommended.
– Christopher Lee, iconic actor and all-around badass, passed away at the age of 93.
– In a move surely to incur the wrath of publisher SelfMadeHero’s legal team, if not some otherworldly Shuggoth or other unspeakable evil from Carcosa or some other blighted plane of existence, someone straight-up stole the entire cover image from INJ Culbard’s graphic novel adaptation of Robert Chambers’ “The King in Yellow” for their own printing of the now-public domain original prose book.
– Zainab Akhtar sheds some light on the reasoning behind the Patreon drive she’s started for her Eisner-nominated blog Comics & Cola.
– Speaking of well-deserving recipients of your comics dollars, “My So-Called Secret Identity” is back for a second volume and looking for some help on Kickstarter.
