Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have confirmed that there are only fifteen episodes left to Game of Thrones, at most. They mentioned that they wanted to end the show at a definite point so it wouldn’t get padded with filler, which is funny considering Season 5 happened. If you’ve seen last Sunday’s finale and are an Overwatch fan, you can check Cersei’s play of the game right here. Yes, a thousand people made this same video, but this one’s the most thorough.
– “Captain America: Steve Rogers” #2 is out today and in case you thought (or knew) that Hydra Captain America thing was going to turn out dumb, you were right.
– Luke Cage is going to have some major presence at San Diego Comic-Con which is a very 2016 way of saying they’re going to have a trailer and panel. Maybe some props.
– Here’s some on-set photos of Tom Holland filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in full costume. The spider costume/backpack combo has me hoping there’s a solid twenty minutes of Peter Parker going about his regular high school duties with no one having the heart to tell him he’s in costume. I hope they have that and Hannibal Buress screaming “I need pictures of Spider-Man” while dressed like JK Simmons.
– Speaking of JK Simmons, reports of him getting swole for his role as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League are unfounded as the man himself revealed that he’s only getting jacked for himself. He apparently won’t be looking as crazy ripped as he does in Justice League, but the crazy irrational part of me still wants to see crossfit Jim Gordon from that time he was Batman make an appearance.
