– Over at the cinematic side of things of the Marvel Universe, a few rumors have popped up and gained some traction over the past few days. The first is that, in addition to playing “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: Civil War, William Hurt may also take to the screen as his alter ego, the Red Hulk. This is, of course, addressing the concerns that Civil War won’t have enough heroes on screen.
– Also being reported is that Martin Freeman’s Civil War character has already been teased in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the film, Ulysses Klaue is on the phone with someone he refers to as ‘minister,’ and the rumor is that Freeman will be playing Edward Chase, the Prime Minister of England in the upcoming film. This role makes sense, but is a bit underwhelming, as far as casting decisions go.
– Marvel’s TV rumors get a nice writeup over at Comics Alliance, where possible Cloak and Dagger, Ms. Marvel, and Hulk shows get mentioned, as well as some interesting dynamics over things like ABC’s control of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and more.
– While on the rumor train, let’s address a few Star Wars ones, namely that Obi-Wan Kenobi might get his own spinoff trilogy starring Ewan McGregor and that the second Star Wars “anthology” spin-off would focus on both Han Solo and Boba Fett. The Kenobi trilogy is a great idea, and would utilize McGregor in an age appropriate way, and allow the best part of the Prequels to read some non-terrible dialogue in a Star Wars film. As for the second one, as with all of these projects, it all comes down to who is writing/directing/starring in them.
– Dark Horse has promoted a slew of their editors to new positions, including friend of the site Daniel Chabon, who has been absolutely instrumental in various Dark Horse projects in the past. Congratulations, folks!
– It appears that there is a new Mega Man television series being planned for 2017. A fan of the games, I’ve never really given their other media a shot – I’d be interested to see what Man of Action does with this property.
– And, finally, in news that is sure to excite 1/5 of the Multiversity staff, it appears that Stephen Amell, aka Oliver Queen on Arrow, might be wrestling Stardust, aka Cody Rhodes, at Summerslam, one of the WWE’s largest events of the year.
