– I’m late to this party, but I can’t not cover this story as I’m the resident Vertigo superfan, but on Wednesday the New York Times did a feature on former Vertigo head Karen Berger. It’s a fantastic piece, although it effectively confirms many’s worst feelings about the state of the once vaunted imprint. Both Berger and people like Grant Morrison talk about the decreased focus on Vertigo as an initiative, and the shift in focus from gothic fantasies to urban dystopias. Basically, going away from what made Vertigo special which is a damn shame. Well worth a read in my book.

– Chris Arrant shares six other characters that should get the MAX treatment from Marvel, which is particularly fitting given that Fury MAX is nearing its end. Not sure how much I agree with the list, but it’s an interesting idea (and the Reed Richards one could be fun).

– io9 has a list of 7 bad storytelling habits that everyone learned from superhero comics, and, frankly, it’s not very good. It’s all very on the nose and sure, some or all of them are partial truths, but it just feels pretty lazy to me. The “illusion of change” exists in all forms of entertainment, otherwise how would “How I Met Your Mother” have lasted for so long?

This zombie commercial is more entertaining than the third season of The Walking Dead.
