Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

– To start, I wanted to send best wishes out to Fantagraphics co-publisher Kim Thompson from all of us at Multiversity, who shared yesterday that he is suffering from lung cancer. He’s long been one of the most passionate supporters of comics, and he’s a legend in the industry. In the article, they share where you can reach out and wish him the best. For those moved by Fantagraphics work over the years, I recommend doing just that.

– James Stokoe clarifies the situation with Sullivan’s Sluggers and the controversy tied to the rather acrimonious things that are coming out about writer Mark Andrew Smith (who is referred to simply as The Writer in the post). It’s honestly one of the most disparaging things I’ve ever read while someone still somehow maintaining civility. An interesting read.

Update: Mark Andrew Smith responded with his side and…things are just getting uncomfortable.

– In totally rad news, Comics Alliance shares that a Free Comic Book Day record 4.6 million comics have been ordered for FCBD. Coming May 4, this is huge growth over the 3.5 million that were ordered last year, and CA tends to think this indicates a strong year to come. I find it hard to disagree.

– Hey! DC is giving away Action Comics #1 (New 52) digitally because they reached 4 million fans on Facebook for Superman. Check this post out for more, and if you haven’t read it yet, check out Morrison and Morales’ view on the character.

– Hey look! Another new Iron Man 3 poster, this time with both Tony and Pepper on it! If you’re into that, you can check it out here. There is only so much excitement I can work up over yet another Iron Man 3 poster though.

– Finally, in other Marvel movie news Mark Ruffalo shared on Twitter that Marvel Films is not actively developing a Hulk standalone film, but that he isn’t giving up. The dude, first off, crushed it as Bruce Banner in The Avengers, and second off seems passionate about the role. I’ve always really liked Ruffalo (see: You Can Count On Me), but this makes me like him even more.
