– Because Smallville was already a thing, and Gotham is so popular, DC decided to go way deep into the Superman mythos for Krypton, a show that is now officially in development at Syfy. Deadline reports that the plot will focus around Superman’s grandfather:

Years before the Superman became a superhero, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

Not much other info is mentioned, but we will let you know when/if rumors of a plot or casting pop up.

– In what can only be described as amazing, Mark Hamill will, once again, play the Trickster on The Flash. Unlike the 1990 series, in this incarnation, he will be playing “an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry and Det. West to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.” Hitfix, which broke the story, also mentions how John Wesley Shipp, Barry’s father on the new series and the title character of the 1990 iteration, will reunite onscreen with Hamill.

– Moving from DC TV to DC films, Jason Momoa has officially signed on for four films as Aquaman – off the top of my head, that’s Superman V. Batman: Dawn of Justice, Aquaman, and the two Justice League films. Four films sounds like a lot, until you break it down like that. Obviously, if the films are hits, we’ll see Momoa in orange and green a few more times.

– James Gunn has an extended sit down with Comic Book Resources to discuss his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which seems to be a fluid one.

– Marc Guggenheim, executive producer of Arrow claims that this Wednesday’s episode changes the entire series, and that is all because of Ra’s al Ghul. He also makes the statement that, on Arrow, all the villains are the heroes of their own stories – a point that should seem obvious, but is so clearly missed many times.

– In some sad news, Chicago-based artist Ed Siemienkowicz was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The Chicago comics community, including Tim Seeley, Mike Norton and Jill Thompson, has been trying to raise some money to help offset his medical expenses, so think about buying some original art and helping out a member of our great little corner of the arts world.

– Butch Guice has joined the upcoming “Ninjak” ongoing at Valiant as the artist on a monthly backup feature. Congrats, Butch!

– And, finally, Jason Aaron and Tony Moore have done a lot to further the medium of comics, but this may take the cake: they are telling a story across the labels on a six pack of beer. What a time to be alive!
