Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– People are all hot to trot over Kate Mara saying that the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film reboot isn’t based on any previous comics, and that Josh Trank told her not to read any comics to prepare, but you know what? That totally feels like much ado about nothing. So what if it’s not explicitly based off any specific story? I’m okay with them doing their own thing. Plus, there’s nothing wrong with a director wanting his leading lady to find her own voice in a role. Until it comes out and everything is completely busted ass, I’ll be willing to see what happens here.
– You know, I honestly have no idea exactly what I watched in this “Big Hero 6” trailer, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t entertained. Big hairy baby, indeed.
– “Gotham” revealed a new trailer during the MLB All-Star Game yesterday, making that roughly the 750,000th trailer for the show.
– Archaia is collecting the last four of David Petersen’s “Mouse Guard” Free Comic Book Day stories and two brand new ones in a new hardcover called “Mouse Guard: Baldwin the Brave and Other Tales”. If you missed these FCBD stories, I highly, highly, highly recommend getting this book. “Mouse Guard” is one of the best title in comics, and you can really jump in at any point on it.
– In advance of taking over the rights to the “Star Wars” universe again, Marvel has announced that they’ll be collecting their original “Star Wars” comic in Omnibus form, bringing issues #1 through #44 plus Annual #1 to readers all in one big, glorious collection.
– Finally, MC’s dear friend Steve Morris launched a new comic site called The Spire, and if you’re looking for somewhere to read about comics that isn’t Multiversity, Steve’s a great writer you might enjoy.
