Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– Jim Steranko tells a story about this one time he slapped Bob Kane. You should read this.
– Yuko Shimizu, one of our absolute favorite artists, drops some knowledge on aspiring artists (and I imagine it works for writers too): keep that day job, at least for a while. She talks about how beneficial it is for creators, and even though you’ll be incredibly happy once you can give it up, you’ll be even happier for the experience you gained from it. Worth a read if you’re an aspiring creators of some variety.
– Hey look! One of our favorite comic bros that we’re fanbros of is going to be making his writing debut over at FanBros! Declan Shalvey, artist extraordinaire, will be writing his very first comic as part of FanBros new FanBros Originals initiative. The comic is titled “Deadly Warriors” and features the art of Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (and colors by Ruth Redmond), it’s Shalvey’s debut as a writer, and will be arriving October 9th. Fans of his art don’t need to wait long for more, as he’ll be illustrating the next FO, in “Irreplaceable” as written by the very talented (and new Valiant editor) Alejandro Arbona. Whoaaaa.
– “Five Ghosts” fans, how have you proved your love lately? Someone made their own Fabian Gray figure, from Comics Cubed in Kokomo, IN.
