Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– “Punks” is coming back at Image from the prodigal duo of Josh Fialkov and Kody Chamberlain. About damn time, I say. Where you been Kody? We’ve been missing you!
– In a move that simultaneously acts as a reboot and a traditional launch, Archie is bringing their superhero line Red Circle back, but this time as Dark Circle Comics. It’s a passion project for Dark Circle editor/all around classy gentleman Alex Segura, who has been tasked to revitalize the characters and is targeting a “dream team” of creators to do just that. Looking forward to it, Alex.
– Apparently Jim Zub is doing something Dungeons & Dragons related at IDW, and it may involve eyes and/or hamsters. Regardless, I find this teaser to be a 12 on a 10 point unintentional hilarity scale, entirely because that hamster makes me laugh.
– Are you in the San Francisco area? Tonight at the California College of the Arts, Image Publisher and Eisner nominated writer Eric Stephenson will be speaking there, and as per usual with Eric, this is the type of thing you’ll most definitely want to attend.
– Michael Moreci will be writing a “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” prequel six-issue mini-series for Boom! In other news, I watched “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” last night because I am super pumped about “Dawn”!
– Speaking of, apparently Charles Burns’ “Black Hole” is playing an important role in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”. Apparently they thought I needed more of a reason to see it. I DIDN’T BUT THANKS ANYWAYS!
– Valerie D’Orazio and Bobby Timony have teamed up for a pretty cool looking Kickstarter called “The Horror Lovers.” Feast your eyes!
– Finally, in the best news of the day, Bernie Wrightson was released from the hospital last night according to Steve Niles. Congrats, Bernie!
