Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Deadline is reporting a rumor that would put Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor at the center of the upcoming Suicide Squad film. While Luthor typically doesn’t fit into the concept of the Suicide Squad, it isn’t hugely difficult to see how that could be tweaked. It would certainly give the film some added star power – not so much in its cast, but in its characters – and would be a nice connection to the rest of their film spate.
– Bleeding Cool is reporting that David S. Goyer may be working on a new show called Krypton about – you guessed it – Superman’s home planet. I can just imagine the pitch meeting where they pitched replicating the success of Gotham with Superman, and some executive screaming “THE FUCKING WB DID THAT in 2001” before someone saved their job by suggesting Krypton as the setting. Goyer was the co-screenwriter of Man of Steel which, despite many, many flaws, gave us a really compelling look at Krypton. How they would deal with the huge special effects budget is a question for another day.
– Adam McKay, director behind Anchorman and Talladega Nights, is in negotiations to helm a Marvel Studios film. McKay, who punched up the Ant-Man script, says that “maybe” he’ll work on a character that hasn’t had a film yet. Personally, I can’t really think of a Marvel character that would fit McKay’s sensibilities, but we’ll see.
– Todd McFarlane showed off some concept art for a new Spawn animated project. Is 1994 you as psyched as 1994 me is?
– Somewhat shockingly, Constantine doesn’t have a UK TV deal yet, but rest easy: you can check out the series on Amazon Prime.
– DC has released a few interesting previews over at CBR: both the first colored pages of the Finchs’ “Wonder Woman” run, as well as the first look at Emanuela Lupacchino’s “Supergirl” pages. “Supergirl,” in particular, looks great.
– In news that really isn’t news at all, Christopher and Jonathan Nolan are done with DC films, at least for now.
– We’ve talked in the past about a Judge Dredd webseries, and the wait is over: Superfiend is here.
– Sean Murphy took to his deviantArt page to talk about “5 Career Killers” for artists, and even tosses in a sixth, because why not? Take note, artists and fans of art: there is some great insight in there.
– Since we last spoke, the rumor has been posed, and then tossed out, that Joel Schumacher was going to be writing a Batman comic that took place in his film universe. While the internet sort of lost its shit over the idea, I actually think it could have been a ton of fun. Oh well!
– And, finally, if you’re still looking for a Halloween costume, the Gotham Facebook page has a few weird downloadable homemade masks of “future” versions of their characters. May I suggest the mourning Fish Mooney?
