Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Well, this is an exciting idea: DC will be releasing a new prose Young Adult novel starring Lois Lane in January. Written by Gwenda Bond, “Fallout” focuses on the early days of Lois in Metropolis. The solicits hints at a possible Superman appearance, but this is clearly a Lois-centric book, and a great way to attract some new fans. Bravo, DC.
– Neil Marshall, a writer and director for Game of Thrones, wants to be considered for the gig writing and/or directing a Black Widow film for Marvel. He had this to say about the character:
That character is really interesting, she doesn’t have any superpowers, she just has extraordinary skills, and the world that she comes from, being this ex-K.G.B. assassin, I find that really fascinating, yeah.”
With Marvel announcing all those unclaimed release dates, it seems absurd that one of them wouldn’t go to Black Widow.
– Andrew Wheeler compares the female character and creator landscapes at DC and Marvel, and while there isn’t a clear winner, what is clear is this: both companies are attempting to step up their game when it comes to handling both their fictional characters and female employees.
– Ted Sarandos, COO of Netflix, discusses the new Marvel set of series, starting with Daredevil. We remain, as always, optimistic.
– Nicola Scott has done character designs for “Sway,” a series for Electricomics, the Alan Moore-backed digital comics organization.
– Spoiler free: The character from the stinger at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy is getting his own Funko toy.
– And finally, Brett White gives us some “Spider-Woman”-inspired covers where male characters are treated as sexual characters, first and foremost.
