– For a guy who is writing some damn amazing books, it’s weird how Mark Waid has been getting more attention lately for what he’s saying in relation to something he’s only tangentially related to. But such is the life for the guy who probably knows more about DC Comics than damn near anyone, and now, in response to some furor over the idea that people like Waid and “All-Star Superman” writer Grant Morrison weren’t getting paid for “Man of Steel,” Waid drops some knowledge about how DC for-hire contracts work and how they worked in the past to further clarify the subject in long form.

Much of what he shares is/was known by people who try and pay attention to these things (at least to a degree), but it’s a fascinating read especially for the very creator friendly light he paints former DC publisher Paul Levitz in. Definitely worth a look.

– Amazon shares their ten favorite comics of 2013 so far, proving it is never too early to start busting out those lists breaking down the best in any medium. It’s a list that’s pretty hard to disagree with for the most part (even if many of them technically came out in 2012 and their list has collections of them), as it features Marvel titans like “Hawkeye” and “Thor: God of Thunder,” while also focusing on books like Gilbert Hernandez’s “Marble Season” and Lucy Knisley’s “Relish.” If you’re looking for some good books to buy, these are definitely some good ones to check out.

– Terry Dodson has a new sketch book, called “Bombshells 7,” coming out at San Diego Comic Con. Not many details are out, but pay attention to his blog as he’ll be releasing more details as the big ol’ con itself approaches.

– Hey look! Marvel claimed another release date for their films, this time July 8th, 2016, two months after one of the previously dates claimed by Marvel. What are they for? Who the hell knows. Daredevil? Doctor Strange? Remains to be seen, but we know there’s a lot on the horizon.
