Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– File this under the ‘never could have predicted this in a million years’ category, but it appears that Robert Kirkman is joining a ‘writer’s room’ for the Transformers series of films. Akiva Goldsmith, one of producers of the franchise, was tasked with creating said writer’s room, and brought in folks like LOST album Jeff Pinker, Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, and X-Men: The Last Stand‘s Zak Penn. Kirkman is an odd choice as a) he’s already worth more money than the entire staff of Multiversity’s entire bloodlines put together, b) he’s shown a real desire to work on his own projects and c) he’s currently writing multiple comic series and executive producing two Walking Dead TV shows (and trying to develop other projects).
– Noelle Stevenson, late of “Lumberjanes,” has had her webcomic “Nimona” optioned by Vertigo Entertainment (not related to the DC publishing line) to become a feature film. Stevenson is a creator on the rise, and this little bit of financial security hopefully ensures that she can continue to be a part of so many interesting and fun projects. Congrats, Noelle!
– Matthew McConaughey has, supposedly, been in consideration for various DC and Marvel film roles, and would still consider it. I’d say have him play Namor, since he already loves the beach and not wearing a shirt.
– I am a huge fan of Armando Iannucci’s current HBO program, Veep, and so having him adapt the French graphic novel about the end of Stalin’s life, “La Morte De Stálin” (The Death of Stalin), is an exciting proposition.
– Despite not being listed as part of the cast for The Force Awakens, Lawrence Kasdan doesn’t think that Lando Calrissian is done with the Star Wars franchise. We know that he has a Marvel miniseries coming up, and it would only be fitting for him to debut in the second installment of the new trilogy, much like he did with the original trilogy.
– Speaking of Star Wars and Marvel, during a recent conference call, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that properties like Star Wars and Marvel could, eventually get their own TV channels. Breathe, 10 year old Brian, breathe…
– Drew Johnson, not the solicited David Williams, will be drawing the interiors for “The Shield” for Archie’s Dark Circle line. Williams will still be handling covers for the series.
– For those that were trade waiting “Infinity Man and the Forever People” – psych! The trade has been cancelled, too!
– Speaking of cancelled, Brad Peyton, attached to direct a Lobo film, talks about why his film might seem like it has been called off: he believes that DC is worry about its tent pole pictures before diving into a lesser known property like Lobo. That a good enough answer for you bastiches?
– And, finally, Damon Lindeloff wanted Nick Fury (or at least Samuel L. Jackson) to appear in a Tomorrowland post-credits sequence. It would’ve been more satisfying than the Age of Ultron stinger…oh wait, there wasn’t one.
