Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– Is DC offering John Romita, Jr. the opportunity to write and draw Superman as a carrot to come over to them? That’s what Bleeding Cool’s rumor engine is saying about the long-time Marvel creator, citing issues with his contract and that same contract coming to an end. Obviously, it’s far from a sure shot, but I find the idea fascinating for sure.
– Comics Alliance has a look at the DC booth at SDCC, which itself gave fans a look at the Superman costumes throughout history. It’s a totally awesome insight into the changing fashion of the iconic superhero throughout his TV and cinematic appearances.
– The Beat has a look at Image’s “Genre Fiction Renaissance” panel, in which panelists like Ed Brubaker and Frank Barbiere discuss how Image’s genre lineup has grown and grown, touching on a far more diverse line than most publishers do. I especially liked the part where Image’s Ron Richards spoke about the lack of romance in comics, which is definitely something that we never see anymore.
