Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– Could JJ Abrams be working on a “Half-Life” or “Portal” movie? Maybe someday, if his and Gabe Newell’s horrible teasing tweets are to be believed. The Mary Sue reports on this, and even though I think this would require JJ Abrams to clone himself to get this done, it would be pretty freaking amazing.
– Marc Bernadin comments on the non-diversity in superhero comics and insists: Marvel and DC are not racist. In case that wasn’t completely obvious already.
– The cast of “The Avengers” will be presenting an award at the Oscars, minus Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth. It’s uncertain what they’ll be presenting exactly – my guess would be effects related – but if you’re looking for your next big experience with the cast, that’s where you can get it.
– Finally, Entertainment Weekly talks to Brian Michael Bendis about “Guardians of the Galaxy” and cosmic Marvel. Marvel’s been doing the full court press on both this and “Nova” so clearly, they either a) have a winner on their hands or b) really want to sell them. My guess is a bit of both.
