Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Everyone loves Kris Anka’s new Spider-Woman costume design, but now you can see the process it took for him to get there, as he walks you through the varying designs he went through on the way.
– Brian Michael Bendis pulled a Friday Bomb Drop on everyone again via his Tumblr, as he revealed the cover to “All-New X-Men” #40 which teased the Utopians, a team that’s been rumored for a while that has probably the weirdest line-up ever, including Adam-X the Extreme. Curious stuff.
– Sony has purchased the rights to “Fire & Ice”, an old Ralph Bakshi animated film that was based off of Frank Frazetta’s art. Robert Rodriguez, Frazetta’s friend, is slated to direct as an homage to Frazatta, and it’s also set to be a live-action film this time. Sony apparently views it as a major franchise opportunity.
– Larry Doherty of Larry’s Comics walks Bleeding Cool readers through the economics of his 2,000+ copy order of “Star Wars” #1, and it’s an interesting read even though there’s some weird stuff in there. The gist? Doherty views most of the copies as garbage, but he can turn a profit by getting access to a lot of the more rare variants. That is pretty much exactly what everyone is worried about when it comes to the economics of the “Star Wars” orders, so that’s great.
