Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Every year as part of Diamond’s Gem Awards, a number of awards are given by the comic retailers of the U.S., and this year they gave many of the top awards to Image Comics, including Best Publisher (over 4% of the market share) and Best New Series (Jonathan Hickman and Nick Dragotta’s “East of West”). Congrats to everyone over at Image as well as Hickman and Dragotta!
– Kelly Sue DeConnick talks to Hero Complex about Bitch Planet, steering into the curve, gender, agendas and more, and as per usual, says a lot of bright, forward-thinking things in the process. Well worth a read.
– The Norman Transcript shares the story of Sterling Gates breaking into comics, and it is pretty damn fantastic. Makes me happy for Gates and hopeful for his continued success.
– Love Legos and Batman? Support this Lego CUUSOO project to get an “Assault on Wayne Manor” Batman Lego set created! It looks totally awesome, and you’d absolutely make Mark Waid’s day if you supported it.
– Valerio Schiti, one of my favorite new artists, shares some sketches for “Mighty Avengers” and if the upgrade from Greg Land to him isn’t the biggest of 2014, I’d be absolutely shocked. So good.
– “I, Frankenstein”, which was apparently based off a comic which I had never heard of, absolutely bombed at the box office. This is not a surprise, as it looked like a steaming pile of garbage. You’re better than that Aaron Eckhart! Come on now! Same goes to you Yvonne Strahvoski and Bill Nighy!
