Over at The Basketball Jones – the best basketball site in all the land – TBJ Blog Editor Trey Kerby (Heyo!) shares news of Nike preparing new shoes for LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant that are superhero themed for playoffs (this, of course, assumes that the Lakers make the playoffs – they likely will). Inexplicably, they depict James, Bryant and Durant wearing body armor to go with their superhero selves, but really, it just looks like they’re about to go do some dirt biking with fancy basketball shoes on.

No less, as is often the case when brands try to impersonate superhero related ideas, the results are amusing. KD could be pretty damn lethal with electrical powers, though.

– Jeff Parker teases a new digital project on his site that apparently will make us hate him, or something. We don’t care. New Jeff Parker = awesome. No less, here’s what he had to say about the project that should be announced for our presumptive hatred tomorrow:

I’m very excited about it, because I think it can achieve that goal so many have tried to crack, of finding a property that can lure readers over to digital comics, readers that aren’t usually inclined to read on their devices. And it has to be something with wide appeal, which even a cursory scan around the internet tells me it still is. Also I’m beginning it working with an Eisner winning artist who I’ve wanted to work with very much for the past few years. It already looks incredible.

– Is a new Avengers book coming this summer from Warren Ellis and Mike McKone? Bleeding Cool suggests this idea, which would be outrageously cool because it would be written by WARREN FREAKING ELLIS. More on this as it becomes tangibly real, as opposed to only Richly real.

– Finally, Valerie Gallaher continues her Vibe (Called) Quest, as she tries to keep DC’s Vibe solo series alive after its first issue was met with apathy. It’s not a bad journey to take on: Vibe is a damn solid book, and certainly better than most of what DC is producing.
