– Mark Waid and Chris Samnee recently wrapped up their run on “Daredevil,” which was a generally well-liked series, and have announced their next project: “Black Widow.” Not quite taking off where the Nathan Edmonson/Phil Noto series left off and not quite launching into its own thing, Waid promises it’s nonetheless an “old school spy story.” The new “Black Widow” series will start in 2016, probably long before you see the character on any toys.

– Adding to their ever-expanding television universe, DC has released a trailer for DC Super Hero Girls, where all your favorite DC heroines are in high school. It looks…cute. The show’s targeted toward girls ages 6-12. I do think it’s cool DC has made something specifically for that demographic, though obviously everyone has the capacity to enjoy it, and I hope it has a more empowering message than a pandering or reductive one. The whole thing is a collaboration with Mattel for some new toys, and apparently will branch off into its own part of the DC Multiverse, with comics, books, apparel, and cartoons. Meanwhile, maybe all this means that this will be closer to being a reality.

– Following the revelation about Scott Allie’s gross behavior, which is just another instance in a long line of instances where industry professionals exhibit assaulting behavior to their subordinates, Emma Houxbois has written this thought-provoking and interesting op-ed piece at The Rainbow Hub. It’s definitely worth taking some time to read through.

– In an interview with Orbital in Conversation (which is part of the Multiversity Comics Podcast Network), Chuck Palahniuk dropped some huge revelations for people who like his stuff. First of all, he’s already working on “Fight Club 3”. He also wants to do a series of original comics one-shots that’ll be collected like a short story collection, and he’s been courting Joelle Jones for the art, although she’s in the thick of it with that “Mockingbird” series for Marvel. Palahniuk fans would probably do well to check out the whole interview.

– You know comics are really starting to be taken as a serious medium when they find themselves on the Frequently Challenged and Banned Books list. Last week was Banned Books Week, a week where libraries, school, and stores honor and promote books that have been challenged for some silly reason (usually something dealing with sexuality). Michael Cavna gives an overview of some of the comics that’ve been challenged in years past, including Raina Telgemeier’s “Drama,” Jeff Smith’s “Bone,” and Gilbert Hernandez’s ‘Palomar’ stories.

– Finally, in Webcomics Worth Clicking: Peter Wartman’s “Over the Wall” is a gorgeously realized and well delivered tight fantasy adventure story, about a girl named Anya who sets out to save her brother from this city infested with demons. The comic has already concluded, and filled with plenty of danger, hijinks, monsters, and chases.
