Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Remember how director Tim Miller recently jumped ship from the Deadpool reboot? Well, word is that it’s because the creative differences that caused him to leave had a whole lot to do with the sequel’s budget. Miller wanted a big budget blockbuster on the level of Infinity War or Batman v. Superman but Ryan Reynolds, the first film’s writers, and the studio were like “lol remember when we made more than $700 million dollars with a $60 million dollar budget? We’re gonna do that again.”

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson talked about his hopes for a Doctor Strange sequel ahead of the film’s American release next week. Derrickson said he’d like to his sequel to be in the vein of The Dark Knight. With the origin story out of the way, Derrickson would see Strange face a dominant villain, like Batman did with the Joker. He also said he’d want to bring in Tom Hardy to hijack a plane in a funny voice because it’s four years later and that’s still the funniest scene in cinema history.

– Netflix’s Punisher series is officially going to drop in 2017 and it’s even cast a whole bunch of people. They’re all really great actors and actresses, but none of the characters they’re playing are big names like the Purple Man or The Russian so I can’t waste precious SEO time writing about them.

– In news that caters to me and me alone, New Japan Pro Wrestling star Hiroshi Tanahashi will star in the new Kamen Rider movie alongside Pac-Man. I hope there’s an American theatrical release so there can be an movie audience comprised entirely of me, Chris Sims, and the actual Zodiac Killer.
