Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– James Wan, the man behind Fast and Furious 7, Saw, and The Conjuring is rumored to be the director for 2019’s Shazam. Spinoff Online has put together the clues, and they put together a pretty cogent argument for it. While Wan is known primarily for horror, his track record at the box office leaves very little doubt about his skills in producing hits.
– Morena Baccarin, perhaps best known for playing Inara on Firefly, has joined the cast of Gotham as Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Thompkins is an extremely important character in the Bat-verse, although how major of a role she will play on Gotham is yet to be announced.
– Brian Smrz, aside from being in dire need of a few vowels in his last name, is one of the Bryan Singer’s closest collaborators – most recently, he was the second-unit director for X-Men: Days of Future Past, talks with Newsarama about the X-Men movie universe. Of particular interest is the end of the article, where he talks about the idea of a Quicksilver solo film, which apparently has been discussed in one manner or another. While his marquee scene was quite something, I don’t know how that character would carry a film on his own.
– According to Rich Johnston, the artists behind the various Marvel “Summer 2015” teasers (like for yesterday’s “Old Man Logan”) don’t know exactly what they are creating these pieces for – nor do the original creators behind the original series.
– Comic Book Resources put together an incredible article about the original “Secret Wars,” and how it changed the game for mainstream comics – this, friends, is a must read.
– Ray Fisher, the actor playing Cyborg in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, found out about the upcoming Cyborg film just a few hours before it was announced to the world. Fisher is not a veteran film actor, and seems genuinely jazzed about being a part of this franchise.
– “Monster Pin-Up Girls,” a new Kickstarter project from Bobby Timony, looks absolutely awesome. Get in on this right before Halloween.
– Dark Horse graphic novel “Polar: Came from the Cold” was just optioned by Constantin Film. Victor Santos and Dark Horse put out the book in November 2013, and a script is already in place from writer Jayson Rockwell.
– Rest assured, fans of Darkwing Duck comics – Joe Books is putting together a 400 page, $19.99 collection featuring all of the Boom! issues featuring the character: Disney’s “Darkwing Duck: Definitely Dangerous Edition” is due out in January.
– And, finally, this two-sentence, five-panel comic is absolutely heartbreaking. If anyone needs me, I’m crying into my coffee.
