Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– It seems popular sci-fi writer John Scalzi is going to be working on his first comic book, and Mike Choi will be the artist on the book. That’s according to Choi, at least, and it seems that it will in fact be sci-fi and, if Choi is to be believed, it will be awesome as well.
– Cutoff for pre-orders from retailers on Lazarus #1 from Greg Rucka and Michael Lark is today! Get your orders in people!!!
– Last week we spoke of Kevin Maguire getting cool with Valiant after he publicly shared frustration over his perceived lack of ability to regain rights for his book “Trinity Angels.” Now, word is, at least according to Bleeding Cool, that the Quantum & Woody duo of Christopher Priest and M.D. Bright are now okay with Valiant. How this came to be, entirely, is uncertain, but to me it doesn’t sound like they had a substantial issue with them from the start. It also sounds like Valiant handled things very well, which is unsurprising from my experience. Good to know.
– The second Kazi Kubuishi Harry Potter cover has been revealed, for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and it’s another stunner.
– The New York Times had a Sunday piece on gadgets and their ability to read emotions, and the most important part for me is the amazing piece Yuko Shimizu did for it, in which R2D2, Wall-E and others are consoling a woman. Too awesome.
