Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

– So things are getting weird in terms of Marvel vs. Fox for comic movies. As we’ve mentioned a few times on The Rundown, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are set to appear in The Avengers 2. Totally cool, totally awesome, makes sense. Now, word is out that Evan Peters (American Horror Story) has been cast as Quicksilver in…X-Men First Class: Days of Future Past. What the what? But how can he be in both? Very interesting, but plenty more will come our way in that regard I’m sure. Either way, Peters? That’s a damn fine job of casting. Peters is excellent at the petulance and intelligence necessary for the character.

Meanwhile, over at The Avengers 2 side of things, rumors have swirled that the phenomenally gifted Saoirse Ronan is who they are targeting for The Scarlet Witch, to which I say “HELL YES!” to. Ronan is phenomenal young actress, notable for her work in “Hanna” and “Atonement” (amongst other things), and to cast her as Wanda Maximoff? Killer stuff. Not only that, but Ronan sounds quite interested as well. I for one am all onboard, and I’m curious to see how all these shenanigans pan out in the end.

– DC loves controversy, but Geoff Johns always seems like he’s out of sight in their controversial stories. Why? It might be because he’s just a nice guy, as this tweet from Robert Venditti (the incoming Green Lantern writer) shows. After the release of Johns’ final GL issue, he sent Venditti an actual Green Lantern, metaphorically and literally passing the torch on to Venditti. Too cool, and a classy move by Johns.

– In Young Avengers #5, Jamie McKelvie gives Wiccan a new costume. On Tumblr, he gives his reasoning and the decisions behind the design. Good stuff there.

– Elephantmen celebrates 50 issues by getting a Frank Quitely cover. This is basically the best way to celebrate in my opinion.

This is my new favorite video ever.
