Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– It’s very rare to get actual sales numbers for comics, but Warren Ellis can be very unusual in all the best ways, as he revealed that not only did his new book with Jason Howard, “TREES”, ship about 38,500 copies to match retailer orders, they printed 50,000 to ensure that if there is a sell-out, they have enough to match those levels. Given the massive amounts of sell-outs of Image books, I think it was a wise choice, and all of it showcases something we already knew: Warren Ellis is a smart guy.
– Charente Libre, a French news organization, writes about the plight of cartoonists in France as changes in government policy make it even more difficult for them to make a living in their field. It’s an interesting read that, and one that makes a good partner article to my piece about career comic artists from yesterday.
– In the latest Humble Bundle, Top Shelf is getting in on the action a bit, with Ed Piskor’s “Wizzywig”, Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s “From Hell”, and John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell’s “March Volume One” being featured. Get on it!
– What if H. Jon Benjamin voiced HAL in “2001: A Space Odyssey”? That’s a question we now have an answer to, finally.
– Finally, Sam Bosma is an absolute god of art.
