Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Greg Rucka responds to the recent controversy that surrounds Janelle Asselin and the astonishingly stupid that came out of Wondercon this past weekend, and in true Rucka fashion, it’s filled with fire, passion and intelligence. Really good stuff, and as per usual with Rucka related pieces, well worth a read.
– Publisher’s Weekly has an article talking with retailers about the year so far, and it’s a fascinating read. The general consensus is the tide is turning a bit from Big Two books to everyone else, with readers and retailers turning away from DC more than ever in particular. The other big takeaway is a) women readers are increasing (especially young ones) and b) “Saga” is the hottest thing around. And that no one pays attention to comic press. Harumph.
– Heidi McDonald launched a page that is an all-in-one resource on how to get into comics and survive once you get there. If you’re looking to get into comics, I recommend bookmarking that, or whatever you crazy kids do these day to keep track of pages.
– In the upcoming “Doctor Who” series from Nick Abadzis, Elena Casagrande and Titan Comics that features David Tennant’s tenth Doctor, features (to my knowledge) the Doctor’s first American companion in the form of New Yorker Gabriella Gonzalez. It’s very cool, and Casagrande’s designs look really great.
– Allegedly, Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience brought in more than 100,000 attendees this past weekend, making it the third biggest con in the country. While that’s neat, that picture that is in the article would make that the most sparsely attended con I’ve ever been to. I mean, there is AMPLE room to walk around there. Seems strange, or at least poorly timed.
