Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

“I think the nicest surprise for me, the most unexpected surprise, is the positive reaction. Both to me getting the film – I guess I expected the detractors, and they just haven’t been there, it’s all been quite positive. More than that, it’s just the general enthusiasm for Doctor Strange. I think people who know the comic world and the Marvel universe, they all feel the same way I do, which is, “This is the Marvel movie we’re all ready to see now.” This movie needs to exist. The outpouring of excitement that people have shown is the thing I’ve been most pleasantly surprised.”
– Is there a Batman solo film coming in 2019 that both stars Ben Affleck and will be directed by him? That’s what Latino Review seems to think, but it’s an idea that they throw out there that they indicate won’t be announced for ohhh…a little while. Pretty thin, but hey, Batman!
– Marvel’s in full eff you mode with the upcoming “Deadpool” #34. That September title will ship with a special lenticular cover that only comes one for every 52 regular covers ordered. That’s right – a lentciular cover for every 52 regular covers. This dance is for you, DC.
– Superstar artist and DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee is the man in charge of covering San Diego Comic-Con International’s souvenir program, and cover it he did with a rather fierce looking Batman.
– Over at the Beat, Heidi McDonald talks about Barcon at HeroesCon, and the amount of drinking in general that goes on with creators at cons. Ultimately, I agree with her in that this isn’t really that different than any other type of conventions, and making it seem like a comic problem rather than one shared by many conventions (if it is a problem at all) is pretty unfair.
– There is an Alice Cooper comic coming from Dynamite, and it’s written by Joe Harris and frankly blows my mind.
