– After today’s announcements of both Dwayne Johnston’s role and an announced screenwriter for Shazam, Warner Bros is quick to say that contrary to what has been leaked, Shazam is going to have a “sense of fun and a sense of humor.” Thank goodness, because a dour Captain Marvel movie sounds like the worst idea I can think of, outside of Superman breaking Zod’s neck.

– Despite having a slew of TV shows premiering or continuing this year, DC apparently is pitching at least one more, according to Bleeding Cool: a Supergirl-centric show, produced by Michael Green, former Smallville and current Gotham producer, as well as one of the co-writers on the early New 52 “Supergirl” comic.

– In even more DC TV news, it appears that another former Prison Break cast member is joining The Flash: Dominic Purcell has been cast as Heatwave, joining his fellow rogue/former on screen brother Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold.

– Once upon a time, the aforementioned Dwayne Johnson wanted to adapt “Marshall Law” into a film, but was blocked by McG, who got the studio’s blessing to develop it while he was working on Terminator: Salvation. That would’ve been a really fun film, but I think we are all pretty happy with the Black Adam casting, not that the two are mutually exclusive.

– Marvel has unveiled the first five of their anti-bullying variant covers for October. I think everyone agrees that this is a noble idea, but some of those covers are pretty goofy. Even goofier? This is the third variant promotion of the month for Marvel.

– Lego Slave 1? Yes, please!

– And finally, Rich at Bleeding Cool gives a great suggestion for Halloween – give out comics!
