Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.

– Predictably, Thor: The Dark World’s box office take crumbles under the might of Katniss Everdeen as (the incredibly excellent) The Hunger Games: Catching Fire dominates the box office with $161 million, almost eclipsing Thor’s three week total in just one week. Both should be thankful that Vince Vaughn isn’t in their cast, apparently.
– Numbers nerds unite! ICv2 releases their latest white paper on the comic industry, and some interesting things pop up, like the fact that digital comics growth slowed – down to only a 25% increase after a couple years of unsustainable triple digit percentage growth – and that manga had a big year. If you’re into fun industry numbers (fun being my term), it’s well worth a read.
– Carla Hoffman at Robot 6 starts her write-up on Marvel’s Infinity event by making us think that she might not like it, but then she turns it around by emphasizing that the same things that make it a “slog” actually make it quite special. While it isn’t a universally loved event by any means, it is comic book event storytelling with far more inventiveness and risk taking than we’re used to. I don’t love it personally, but I greatly respect the achievement. I could go with a finale that wasn’t $6.99 however.
– Speaking of articles at Robot 6, this quote of the day from Warren Ellis about “Moon Knight” (which I am very excited for) is fantastic.
