– Already announced as the writer on the project, Drew Goddard is about to sign on as director of the upcoming Sinister Six film. Between this and his role with the Netflix Daredevil series, Goddard is quickly becoming King of Marvel film projects.
– Rumored for some time now, it has been officially announced that May 6, 2016 is when Captain America 3 will open – it is also the date that Superman/Batman opens. This will be an interesting game of chicken to see who caves and moves the date first – smart money says Marvel does, but who knows? Could comics fans actually have a double feature of Cap/Supes + Bats debuting on the same day? Better book that babysitter now, just in case.
– Peter David has signed on to write the screenplay for Seven, a new Canadian animated film, directed by DC animation vet Ben Jones.
– Abraham Riesman at Vulture asks the question: is Captain America only interesting when he’s a prick? Riesman seems to think so, but any decent comics fan worth his or her stripe could probably take this argument down quickly and decisively.
– Bleeding Cool reports that after Marvel “kills” Wolverine in September, the original Nick Fury might be on the chopping block. This isn’t all that surprising – they’ve been trying to match Fury with his on-screen counterpart since Samuel L. Jackson showed up at the end of Iron Man and, since Nick’s son is African American, this would, essentially, do the trick.
– Want to see the first footage of Evan Peters as Quicksilver? Want to also get a stomach ache thinking about bad fast food? You’re in luck!
– Peter Meyhew has been officially cast in Star Wars: Episode VII – does this mean that his original trilogy brethren won’t be far behind?
– And finally – did Nathan Fillion film a Guardians of the Galaxy cameo?
