Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– It’d have been pretty hard to miss this, given its popularity on the Twitters and Tumblrs and what not, but Andy Khouri’s piece on Comics Alliance about sexual harassment (and harassment in general) is an absolute must read. I agree with his sentiment greatly, and it fits into a lot of thoughts I’ve had recently about the greater fandom of comics (are the fans of comics themselves a roadblock to the medium itself becoming more popular?). I like Khouri’s balanced, decidedly unsensational take on it, instead presenting the facts and asking the questions that are worth asking about the situation. Anyways, take a read, and if you fit into the “fake geek guys” he’s talking about, it might be worth thinking about the actions you take.
– A bit late on this: Anthony Mackie, who seems like the best interview ever, talks about Wonder Woman amidst a group interview for “The Winter Solider”: “Scarlett does great representation for all the other girls, but there should be a Wonder Woman movie. I don’t care if they make 20 bucks, if there’s a movie you’re gonna lose money on, make it Wonder Woman. You know what I mean, ’cause little girls deserve that.”
How cool is that? That’s a guy who really has things figured out, I’d say.
– Tom Spurgeon looks at the Eisner nominees, and as per usual, provides great analysis that any and all should read. Spurgeon is one of the absolute best, and you should add The Comics Reporter to your comic site mix if you haven’t already.
– Want to appear in Justin Jordan and Kyle Strahm’s new Image Comics series “Spread”? There’s a way to do that.
– Sundance’s “The Writers’ Room” will be going in a decidedly comic direction, as they welcome both Robert Kirkman and the team of Al Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) to talk about the move from comics to TV. Jim Rash hosts as per usual, but Blair Butler and Michael Schneider, two comic related folks, will be joining.
– Newsarama talks with Paul Allor, Ryan Ferrier, Ryan K. Lindsay and Jeremy Holt about the world of Monkeybrain.
