Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– USA Today shares a first look at the “Powers” TV show, including a look at Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim respectively. Honestly, it doesn’t reveal much that, and as MC EIC Matthew Meylikhov said, it feels a little weird seeing Heyward as Pilgrim when she really looks a lot like Walker’s later partner Enki Sunrise. But hey, it’s coming, and it’s coming soon! December! Get your Playstation 4’s ready!
– “Arrow” is adding to its Suicide Squad cast members, as Nick Tarabay (“Star Trek: Into Darkness”) has been cast as Digger Harkness, aka Captain Boomerang. I don’t know the actor, but I love me some Captain Boomerang.
– The ridiculously great looking “Gotham Academy” gets an “almost official” blog in the form of “Inside Gotham Academy“, a Tumblr that will gather content related to the book and on occasion feature pieces by the creative team including Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher, Karl Kerschl and Romain Gaschet. Very cool stuff.
– The Los Angeles Register writes about the comic industry’s heartwarming efforts to support Stan and Sharon Sakai as she fights a brain tumor. More than $120,000 has been generated in support of the Sakai family, with proceeds generated by the incredible Sakai Project, an art auction that featured an incredible list of artists contributing pieces.
– Speaking of art auctions, only 4 days remain in our Bill Mantlo support fund art auctions! Get your bid in before it’s too late and support a great cause!
– Finally, what if film superheroes were mashed up with Hello Kitty? Oh god…oh god this is what would happen.
