Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– Is the end game for the Amazing Spider-Man movie series to have the Sinister Six appear? Over at Bleeding Cool, that’s the ongoing theory, per buzz at this year’s Comic Con. It makes sense for something like this to happen, as it gives the opportunity to bring an even bigger cast and a much bigger threat to the film. Who knows when something like this would happen though. After all, only three of them will be revealed by the time the second movie comes out. That’s half way there!
– Over at Slash Film, they have a graphic they created breaking down what DC’s films and what Marvel’s films have earned so far. It’s a fun little chart, and I was interested to see the straight up breakdown they have of box office so far for both: DC has averaged $365 million per movie while Marvel has averaged $620 million. I’m not sure if it is a perfect 1 for 1 comparison (Marvel Films is a much more specific filmhouse than DC’s outfit is), but it is still a good overview on their successes (and failures) as movie makers so far.
– This Kickstarter from Sanford Greene – titled “1000: The Animated Micro-series” – is nearing its completion and is well worth you checking out. It looks pretty awesome, and could end up being something badass when all is said and done.
– Bloody Disgusting has a list of the 10 most legitimately terrifying horror comics. Thoughts? I feel like I have a list coming in response next week for Countdown!
– The Beat asks “Should digital comics still be locked down?” To me (and a bevy of comic creators), it seems like there is no reason they shouldn’t. No real downside, plenty of potential to reach a different audience (who won’t buy digital otherwise). It’s not like people are going to pirate more because it’s not locked down. Every comic is already up on torrent sites day of. Seems like a waste of time to me.
