Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

Oh, speaking of which, artist Brian Hurtt shared a shot from the set. Looks spot on!
– Warren Ellis is one of my favorite comic writers ever – probably the 1b to Brian K. Vaughan’s 1a – but he’s also by far my favorite person to read when it comes to talking ABOUT comics (read the collection of his CBR columns, called “Come In Alone,” now if you get the chance). Yesterday, my two favorites blended as one, as Ellis shared his thoughts on The Private Eye, the new DRM-free, pay what you want digital comic series from Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin. As per usual, he’s remarkably insightful when he does so. Definitely worth a read.
– We previously reported that Patrick Zircher was joining “Suicide Squad” as the new artist when Ales Kot takes over the book, but what we didn’t know was what his fate was on Valiant’s “Shadowman.” Now we know: he’s off it. Justin Jordan will be taking over full reigns of writing, with – I think – Neil Edwards taking over on art. That’s a bummer, as I thought Zircher was (obviously) a giant part of that book’s success.
– This is at least the craziest story I’ve heard this year, and that’s saying something.
– Finally, MC news guy David Henderson has started up a web comic series, titled Esmeria. He also has a spin-off series, titled Tales of Esmeria, and if you want to know what Multiversity writers do in their free time, things like Esmeria are amongst those hobbies. Worth a look, comic fans.
