Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at either david@multiversitycomics.com or brian@multiversitycomics.com.
– Mike Dawson gives advice to mid-career cartoonists who have failed to build an audience, and it’s well worth a read. It’s a fascinating one, and while some people have already poked some holes in it, it’s still a good insight into the career of a gifted cartoonist who has been met with serious struggles.
– Geoff Johns has had a bit of an up-and-down last couple years, but his perspective on Superman remains to be such a fantastic breath of fresh air.
– Scott Snyder talks the ending of “The Wake” at Bleeding Cool, and it’s sort of weird in that it feels like he’s explaining the ending again which…was a bit dicey, so it may have needed it.
– Oh heyo, Dustin Nguyen is apparently doing covers for a Thanos mini-series over at Marvel which apparently stars his son. Thanos’ son, not Nguyen’s.
– Veggie Tales is coming back, and ace comic folks like Ethan Nicolle and Doug TenNapel are involved. I’m not into Veggie Tales, but combining those two creators and someone like Rifftrax’s Michael J. Nelson with it should be pretty rad.
– “Guardians of the Galaxy” was awesome, and a big reason why was Chris Pratt. He’s having pretty much the best year ever, and in case you thought he couldn’t get more awesome, watch this video of him laying down Eminem’s part from “Chronic 2001” classic track “Forgot About Dre.”
– Finally, our guy Dave Scheidt and artist Jess Smart Smiley are teaming up for a book called “SPOOKY-SILLY COMICS!”, and it looks like a lot of fun. You can back its Kickstarter and get behind an awesome all-ages book from two up-and-coming creators.
