At School Library Journal, Oni Press have announced “The Tea Dragon Tapestry,” the third and final installment of Katie O’Neill’s “Tea Dragon Society” series. Due out in September, the third book will see Greta struggling to take care of her entrusted Tea Dragon Ginseng, and Minette receiving a surprise package from the monastery where she once trained to be prophetess. Described as “a heartfelt story of purpose, love, and growth,” the final book will see the characters grasping with topics like “the true meaning of caring for someone in grief,” and opening their hearts to others.
Begun as a webcomic and then published in print to great acclaim in 2018, “The Tea Dragon Society” was the recipient of two Eisner Awards, a Harvey Award, and a Dwayne McDuffie Award for Kids’ Comics. The second installment, “The Tea Dragon Festival,” was published last year, and the series has also led to a card game and a line of plush toys. Katie O’Neill said, “It brings me great joy to be returning to the stories of Greta, Minette and many other friends readers have met through the world of Tea Dragons. When I started writing ‘Society,’ I absolutely could not have imagined the warmth and enthusiasm that would meet these characters and creatures.” She added, “I hope the last installment will be satisfying and enjoyable to readers new and old.”
Series editor Ari Yarwood also said, “It’s been an absolute joy working on ‘The Tea Dragon’ series with Katie O’Neill, and I’m so proud of the kind and beautiful world she’s created. I hope that readers find something they need in these books.”
“The Tea Dragon Tapestry” will be released on September 1, 2020.
