The Walking Dead Casting Rumors

With The Walking Dead’s AMC Pilot filming in May and Frank Darabont’s teleplay earning praise from the series’ initial artist Tony Moore, things are looking up for the adaptation of one of the most critically lauded titles of the past decade.

However, one major question looms over the series: who will play lead Rick Grimes?

Big Shiny Robot has heard rumblings as to who we could be looking at, and if true, I’d say I’m pretty stoked. Word is that the front runner for the role is none other than Apollo himself from Ronald D. Moore’s Battlestar Galactica – Jamie Bamber. To me, if you can’t have Aaron Eckhart (which let’s be honest – you can’t), Jamie Bamber is a great replacement. He proved himself in his previous work and I think he could provide the fire necessary to handle the character.

Other suggested contenders include Mark Pellegrino (Jacob from Lost) and Stuart Townsend (contender for every comic movie for some unknown reason), but to me, Bamber is the choice here.

Of course, this information could very easily be fake. Still, it’s notable news about a huge series. Let’s hope they get someone of similar quality if not Bamber himself. Final casting is likely to come out sooner rather than later.
