As if their huge list of fans needed to get any bigger, today the 2011 Writers Guild of America nominations were announced and the writing team of “The Walking Dead” earned a nomination for Best New Series. While they face stern competition with HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” garnering a nomination for both that category AND Best Drama, this is a huge win for the writing staff of the show that includes the creator of the comic Robert Kirkman, the show’s creator in Frank Darabont, and staff writers Charles Eglee, Jack LoGiudice, and Glen Mazzara.
Here’s hoping when the awards are announced, Kirkman can add a WGA award on his burgeoning shelf of Eisner Awards.
