The Walking Dead Has Something To Fear

Well that headline sort of just wrote itself, didn’t it?

In the latest of a long, long line of various teasers for upcoming storylines, Image has sent over the above image with no additional commentary, featuring a mysterious person with a bloodstained chainsaw (illustrated by series artist Charlie Adlard), over the words “Something To Fear.”

At this point, this could literally mean anything. With no release date and no further information, this could assumedly happen any time, any place. Right now the book has just been introduced to the “Larger World” storyline, in which our survivors are alerted to the existence of various communities set up around the country, all of which have begun trading with each other in some semblance of post-apocalyptic society. Rick’s reaction was, rather obviously at this point, very skeptical. And with a big, wide open world of zombies and the people surviving around them, there are certainly any number of possibilities of things to fear.

Of course, the most interesting thing to note about the image is that the face is blacked out, so it could be someone we already know. Perhaps someone who has long since been a runner-up to Rick’s position of leader of the group, to the extent that little seeds have been placed in the book to produce a possible mutiny?

Anything is possible.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
