Dark Horse Comics have announced a new four-part series, “The Witcher: Fading Memories,” by writer Bartosz Sztybor and artist Amad Mir. Evan Cagle has supplied the first issue with its cover art.

The comic series is set in the world of CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and will see Geralt of Rivia “impoverished and dejected” as the number of monster threats has dramatically declined. For Witchers, times are always trying, but with a lack of continuous work, Geralt’s situation has only worsened. Growing desperate, and considering new directions for his life, he is contacted by the Mayor of Towitz, a small town where Foglets are kidnapping children, although there’s something wrong about the town that Geralt will have to uncover.

This will be the fifth mini-series that Dark Horse have published based on CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher series, with Paul Tobin having teamed with artist Joe Querio for “The Witcher: House of Glass” and “The Witcher: Fox Children,” before being joined by artist Piotr Kowalski on “The Witcher: Curse of Crows. Writers Aleksandra Motyka and Travis Currit along with artist Marianna Strychowska teamed up for “The Witcher: Of Flesh and Flame.”

CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher franchise is an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series of the same name. Most recently, the books were adapted into a Netflix series of the same name.

“The Witcher: Fading Memories” #1 will be released on June 17.
