Third Second Coming Teaser Rises

Marvel is so excited about the upcoming X-Men arcs, and you can tell. They’ve been releasing teasers now, and though we haven’t posted them all, the third one came out today and it’s obviously the one most people will be discussing. As you can see, the image features Hope in two lights: one as an angelic figure, and one as a much more demonic looking destroyer. The whole idea of “Is Hope good or bad?” has basically been the entire central theme of the Cable series. As Bishop follows her and Cable, he rants and raves that the whole reason his future is so dark is that she made it that way, but seeing as she is the first mutant birth since M-Day, everyone else thinks differently (so much so as to actually name her Hope.

Of course, we can’t ignore the obvious line “One Will Rise.” What do you suppose that means? We could assume that they mean literally, as in one (Hope) will rise, such as in power, or importance, or even literally learn how to fly. But when we look at the image behind Hope, we can very clearly see the Phoenix Force’s outline, which would leave us to believe that this is related to the return of Jean Grey, which most of us have assumed Hope to be somewhat involved with since she first arrived in Messiah Complex.

What do you think of the new teaser? Let us know in the comments!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
