In this week’s Mighty Thor #6, we were given the resolution of the first arc “The Galactus Seed” with a curious twist.
No, I’m not referring to the final page; I’m referring to Thor’s inexplicable ability to grow a beard in what is discernibly a 24 hour period. Since there is no mention of “A Few Months Later” anywhere on the page (I looked – repeatedly), only “Later”, we can’t tell you exactly how much time took place. Still, the ability to grow a beard is easily the most impressive one in Thor’s powerset, and given that “The Galactus Seed” takes place before Fear Itself, I can only imagine that it will be the deus ex machina of Fear Itself that allows Thor to beat the Serpent.
So, super beard growing — great new super power, or greatest new super power? As a beard sporter myself with an uncanny ability to grow it at magnificent speed, my hat is off to Marvel for recognizing this talent.
