In Marvel’s press release, Aaron stated, “Even though Thor Odinson is now reclaiming his mantle, this new volume will also be going in a very different direction [from ‘God of Thunder’]. Thor has a completely new status quo. Actually the entire landscape of his corner of the Marvel Universe has been changed in the wake of the ‘Death of the Mighty Thor’ arc in ‘Mighty Thor.’ But there’s still a War of the Realms raging, and Thor isn’t looking to stand on the sidelines.” Both Aaron and Del Mundo, who collaborated together on the ‘Secret Wars’ series “Weirdworld,” expressed excitement about working with each other again.
The new “Thor” #1 is out June 13. Before that, readers will see the conclusion of Jane Foster’s time as Thor in “Mighty Thor” #706 (out April 18), which will be followed by the coda one-shot “Mighty Thor: At the Gates of Valhalla,” which will fill the gap between the series on May 16. Aaron will also continue writing Thor Odinson in the new “Avengers” #1, which starts May 2.
